Home Made Window Valance Ideas
My friend and I enrolled in a fashion design and basic sewing course since we wanted to put up a skirt business. My friend was into making skirts and pet accessories, and I tagged along with her just for fun. Besides it would be totally cool if I learned a skill in which I could make my own dresses and tops. We were taught how to sew with a portable sewing machine and gave us a crash course in basic dressmaking.
It was actually a pretty useful and practical course because aside from sewing skirts and simple dresses, I can now sew curtains for our home. Our kitchen needs a new set of draperies, and I opted to make kitchen valances instead to make the kitchen brighter and more ventilated.
I searched for a textile which complements the color of our kitchen walls, and chose one with a nice shade of green. I added inverted pleats and small bows to make it look homier. My latest creation is now hanging in our kitchen windows, and it makes me feel proud to have acquired a new skill. Thanks to the basic sewing course, I now have a new set of window valance ideas that I can’t wait to start working on.
